Click Physiotherapy
Case Study
We recently worked with Click Physiotherapy to address concerns about their website’s core web vitals and site speed.
Our team implemented a variety of strategies to improve their website’s performance, resulting in significant improvements in both traffic and user experience.
In this case study, we’ll outline the problem Click Physiotherapy was facing, our execution of the project, and the results we achieved together.
The Client
Click Physiotherapy uses online videoconferencing to provide physiotherapy services to patients from the comfort of their homes. They specialize in post-operative knee rehabilitation but also see sports injuries, work-related injuries, overuse injuries, spinal injuries, or just clients seeking advice on posture, work ergonomics, or sports optimization.
Some of the most common injuries they see include:
- Knee Injuries
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Low Back Pain
- Achilles Tendonitis
They approached us as their website was failing Core Web Vitals and their traffic had dropped from 6.5K to 2.8K.
The Plan
When Click Physiotherapy approached us, they had concerns about their website’s Core Web Vitals. The website was failing these important metrics, which resulted in a significant drop in traffic from 6.5k to 2.8k. Upon further investigation, we found that the website’s speed was also a concern, and there were technical issues that needed to be addressed to improve its load time and reduce server requests.
We identified several areas for improvement, including:
1. Addressing technical issues to improve the site's speed:
We optimized CSS and JS files, compressed and optimized images, and reduced server requests to improve the site’s load time.
2. Optimizing server-side issues:
We also optimized DB tables and other server-side issues to further improve the site’s speed.
3. Prioritizing real-world user experience over scores:
While Google Page Speed Insights and GT Metrix provide scores, we focused on fixing the issues that were causing problems for the website, regardless of the scores.
4. Auditing the website:
We audited the website thoroughly, starting from On Page and then moving to technical aspects. We found that the website was missing Schemas and had internal linking issues, which needed to be addressed.
In short, our goal was to identify and solve the issues that were causing the website’s poor Core Web Vitals and speed issues, as well as improve the website’s overall performance.
The Execution
1. AMP Pages
We began by removing AMP from all pages and setting up proper redirects to avoid 404 errors for indexed pages. AMP pages usually allow web pages to load faster on mobile devices. But in some cases, they can cause technical issues that negatively affect a website’s performance.
4. Fixing Issues
After addressing the On-Page and technical SEO issues, we implemented Schemas categorically, dividing the website’s pages into schema types and implementing them in batches.
2. Core Web Vitals
We worked on improving website speed, reducing load time by optimizing CSS and JavaScript, compressing and optimizing images, and reducing server requests. We also optimized the website’s database tables and fixed other server-side issues. While Google Page Speed Insights and GT Metrix scores were not our priorities, we used them as a reference to identify issues that needed to be addressed.
3. Auditing
We conducted a thorough audit of the website, starting with On-Page and technical aspects to identify any missing elements. We found that the website lacked Schemas and had internal linking issues. For off-page auditing, we used Ahrefs to analyze the website’s backlink profile and found that it had few backlinks and a low DR of 4.2.
4. Fixing Issues
After addressing the On-Page and technical SEO issues, we implemented Schemas categorically, dividing the website’s pages into schema types and implementing them in batches.
5. Content and Topical Authority
The website had only 27 posts and 15 pages, but it had strong topical authority and E-A-T due to the client being a doctor and a writer. We did not hire additional resources for content creation because the website’s keywords already followed the SILO structure we had in mind.
The Results
256%
Traffic Increase
130%
Clicks Increase
67%
Impressions Increase
We’re delighted to say that this translated into BIG gains.
